2026 Operating Referendum (Vote Yes!)
Did you know that West Lafayette Schools Community District receives the 3rd lowest amount of funding from the state for education, yet we condinually rank as one of the best school districts in Indiana? This is only possible through strong community support and our local public school referendum. In April of 2025 through SEA1, Indiana changed the way property taxes are calculated. From now through 2031, the taxable value of properties incrementally decreases, which reduces the amount of revenue school corporations can generate. Therefore, to maintain the current revenue generated from our referendum, the percent must increase. The rate is based on the projected need in 2031, but the district has committed to only taking what’s needed to maintain current funding levels.
